When Twitter announced the acquisition of Tweetie 2, there was more excitement than confusion. Why? Because it made complete sense that Twitter would want to turn the best Twitter client on the iPhone into the official Twitter app for the iPhone.
You can now download the official Twitter for iPhone app in the App Store. Beside a name change from Tweetie 2 to Twitter, the app also comes with additional new features. Overall it looks like the best Twitter app on the iPhone just got even better. I do, however, miss the old Tweetie 2 icon.
ICQ was the very first desktop instant message client I used many years ago. I ran it on a Packard Bell PC that was purchased from Costco. Looking back, the Packard Bell PC certainly ignited my enthusiasm for technology.
“AOL acquired Mirabilis on June 8, 1998, for $407 million; now they sold it for less than half the amount: $187.5 million.”
Conan O’Brien visited Twitter’s HQ and even did a bit of stand-up. Just one of the many reasons why I love Conan. Look at how tall he is in the photo!
“It really turns our stomachs.”
“There is one big difference between a Promoted Tweet and a regular Tweet. Promoted Tweets must meet a higher bar—they must resonate with users. That means if users don’t interact with a Promoted Tweet to allow us to know that the Promoted Tweet is resonating with them, such as replying to it, favoriting it, or Retweeting it, the Promoted Tweet will disappear.”
“Your business is not Twitter’s responsibility.”
Interesting piece by Marco about companies building their services on top of other services.

Tweetie, my favorite Twitter client for both the iPhone and the Mac, becomes the official Twitter for iPhone. It will soon be available in the iTunes App Store for free.
“Today, Rose acknowledged that the DiggBar is ‘bad for the Internet’ and added that ‘it causes confusion when bookmarking, breaks w/iFrame busters, and has no ability to communicate with the lower frame (if you browse away from a story, the old digg count still persists). It’s an inconsistent/wonky user experience, and I’m happy to say we are killing it when we launch the new Digg.’ It’s a major concession given Digg’s defense of the toolbar a year ago.”
Thanks Mr. Rose. Your role as Digg’s CEO has just begun and you have already made one of the finest decisions for your company. I am looking forward to the new Digg even more now.
Still in beta? You are way too late to the game, but I am looking forward to what the final build will be like.
