Why Will Google TV Be Any Different From WebTV? Or AOL TV? Or MSNTV? Or…

“The simple fact is that cable companies like Comcast (CMCSA) and Time Warner (TWX) not only distribute the majority of the set-top boxes in the U.S, they also have a strong hold over content providers. Unless Google can convince them that their current business model is in need of something like Google TV, pushing the platform into the mainstream is likely to prove quite difficult.”

Google TV. I have been a proponent for Internet television, and I admire Google’s effort in trying to combine the entertainment value of television set and the Internet. Many other products and services have hoped to achieve the same goal. Question is, will it stick?

Ellen’s version of the iPhone commercial. This is one of the most delightful iPhone commercials I have seen and I absolutely love it. Too bad Ellen had to apologize to Apple for making the iPhone look like it is difficult to use. Well, at least she made the apology somewhat funny and everyone got a good laugh out of it.

It’s a joke, Mr. Macintosh.

“The inspiration of this video comes from Todd Alcott’s poem, Television. I own no rights to his reading of the poem and intend only to share my own personal interpretation. Hope you like!”

It’s quite an interpretation. Well done.

Here it is. The complete interview with Conan O’Brien aired on CBS’ 60 Minutes.  Funny man, fantastic beard.

In the world of comedy, his was a Cinderella story in size-15 shoes.

Conan O’Brien Will Appear on ‘60 Minutes’ on Sunday

“Because Mr. O’Brien cannot appear on television before Saturday, ‘60 Minutes’ will have to be creative with its on-air promotions this week, Mr. Kroft said. ‘I think we’ll just show me talking to him and have to blank his face out,’ Mr. Kroft said.”

Conan O’Brien visited Twitter’s HQ and even did a bit of stand-up. Just one of the many reasons why I love Conan. Look at how tall he is in the photo!

Hulu Pushes Forward with $9.95 Subscription Service

I think it’s perfectly fine for consumers to pay $9.95 per month to access more content, but Los Angeles Times also reports that ”ultimately, Hulu is expected to adopt the same commercial loads as network television.”

If the commercial loads are increased along with the addition of monthly payments, Hulu may be taking a step back from its current model. Hulu is what it is because it takes a different approach from traditional television. One of the benefits of Hulu is that commercials are aired in a less intrusive way. Hulu needs to focus on increasing the number of benefits it provides, not decreasing it.

If you don’t cry during this speech, I plan on making you laugh in the future.

Hulu Users Watching Record Amounts of Video

“In January Hulu accounted for 2.8% of videos viewed by U.S. Internet users, but that number rose substantially to 3.2% in February. Nevertheless, YouTube still dominates the online video landscape. 42.5% of videos viewed in the U.S. in February were hosted on Google’s video sites.”
